HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF MYSORE-

Mysore was the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore until 1950, when Haidar Ali and Tipu Sultan were the defacto rulers. Mysore state continued to be ruled by Maharaja Jaya Chamaraja Wadiyar. Mysore city is known as the ‘City of Palaces’ and the ‘Ivory City’. The Cholas who ruled the region for a Century. Bettada Chamaraja Wodeyar was the raja of Mysore rebuilt the fort of Mysore. He has developed Mysore into a beautiful city with excellent planning. It was ruled by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. Mysore was the prominent city during the reign of  Tipu Sultan.

  1. The destination has to be visit is the Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace and Lalitha Mahal.

  2. Visit to explore Srirangapatnam on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway.

Lucknow is the city of Nawabs and the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. It is famous for its culture, heritage, food etc. with the traces and grandeur of Mughal reign. Lucknow is the city of Adabs and Tehjeebs. It has a rich historical and culture, the architectural designs, the handicrafts and the Lucknowi way of life. Lucknow is known for its sweets, kebabs and other Mughlai delicacies.  Lucknow known for ‘zardousi’ and ‘chikan’ embroidery are major attractions. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF LUCKNOW-

Lucknow was set up by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in 1775. Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula of the Awadh dynasty was comprised of artists and thinkers from Persia. Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula is a prominent name in Lucknow’s history. He commissioned the construction of magnificent monuments. Mohammad Amir Saadat Khan was appointed as the viceroy of Awadh. British made Lucknow as an administrative capital. Lucknow was declared the capital of the state of Uttar Pradesh by the Government of India.

The beautiful blend of the native and the western culture be it in the majestic charm of Fort William and Victoria Memorial. Kolkata is famous for its cuisines like  fish curry, Sandesh and rosogollas, snacks like Kathi roll and puchkas. Kolikata name had been mentioned in the roll of the Great Mughal emperor Akbar and in Manasa-Mangal.  The history of Calcutta begins in the 17th century. Job Charnock had Sutanuti, Govindapur and Kolikata (Calcutta) as a trading post of British East India Company. The Mughal Emperor granted East India Company freedom of trade. The capital city of Bengal was Murshidabad. In 1756, Siraj-ud-daullah, nawab of Bengal, annexed the fort. Calcutta was recaptured in 1757 by Robert Clive on the battlefield of Plassey. Calcutta had become a flourishing place, the centre of the cultural, the political and economic life of Bengal.

After the death of Aurangzeb in 1724, Asaf Jah  was the administrative controller of Viceroys ruled the city.

Fatehpur Sikri is a city in North India. It comprises red sandstone. It was the capital of Mughal Emperor Akbar. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is 39 km away from Agra. The architecture of the city is of Indo-Islamic.  There are royal palaces, halls, courtyards and grand avenues. Jama Masjid was the first structure to be constructed.  Buland Darwaza, Panch Mahal, Diwan-I-Aam, Diwan-I-Khaas, Sheikh Salim Chishti tomb and Birbal Bhavan monuments in Fatehpur Sikri.

Kheria Airport is the nearest airport to reach Fatehpur Sikri. It is 40 kilometres away and is well-connected with the cities. Most of the airlines like Indigo Airlines, Air India, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, Indian Airlines, Go Air, Air India Express and AirAsia have regular flights to Agra. There are buses such as Deluxe and Volvo. Agra, Delhi, Noida are managed by Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). Fatehpur Sikri Station comes before the Agra Cantt and the trains are well-linked with the Indian cities. There are trains such as Avadh Express, Punjab Mail, Karnataka Express and Jhelum Express.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF FATEHPUR SIKRI-

Fatehpur Sikri was the Mughal capital from 1571 to 1585. Akbar was assured of sons by the Sufi mystic Salim Chishti. Akbar’s son name is Salim. Salim as Jahangir ascended the throne. Akbar built a new capital at  Sikri as the Sufi saint used to live. The city was christened Fatehabad. Fateh means victory. It was known as Fatehpur Sikri. The planning and construction of the city for 15 years. Akbar planned on Persian principles and old Persian courts. The architecture is a blend of  Gujarati and Bengali. The skilled craftsmen were employed from different regions for the construction of the city.

TIPS-

  1. Visit  to Akbar’s palace had a Diwan-e-khaas and Diwan-e-aam.
  2. Reaching the Panch Mahal – a structure with five storeys and a huge platform supported by pillars.
  3. After that headed to the Jodha Palace, the shrine of Salim Chishti and the Bulund Darwaza.
